Six Senses London Opens Next Month

What's New

It’s official: Six Senses London opens its doors on March 1st, and as a team constantly moving through the city, we’re counting down the days until we can see it for ourselves. Nestled in the recently redeveloped The Whiteley on Queensway, this isn’t Mayfair or Knightsbridge – it’s Bayswater, a neighbourhood long overlooked by luxury hospitality, now thrust into the spotlight in a way only Six Senses could manage.

The hotel occupies roughly a quarter of the Edwardian landmark, where restoration and reinvention meet in equal measure. The original Whiteley staircase, painstakingly rebuilt off-site, now anchors the hotel, connecting a ground-floor restaurant, a members’ club, and one of the city’s most ambitious wellness facilities. Walking through the lobby, with its crushed-velvet seating, pendulum lights, and hints of conservatory charm, you get the sense this is a hotel that has thoughtfully considered how a city property should feel – layered, light, intelligent, and decidedly human.

There are 109 rooms and suites, each with a clear sense of space and purpose. Many boast terraces, some stretching across the entire suite, while interiors combine art-deco influences with contemporary warmth: blond oak floors, Berber-style rugs, and muted pastels offset with burnt-orange accents. Bathrooms are generous, and larger suites include mini wet rooms and Brooklyn-style glass partitions, striking a rare balance between privacy and openness. It’s clear that every detail, from gold hand-shaped door handles to spa-quality bathrooms, has been considered with intention.

Where Six Senses London really flexes its muscles is below ground. The 2,300 sq m spa is a city-scale sanctuary, featuring everything from thermal suites and Finnish saunas to flotation pods and cryotherapy chambers. High-tech fitness studios sit alongside more holistic offerings, while an Integrated Wellness Assessment ensures every guest gets recommendations tailored to their body, mind, and lifestyle. For those who like their wellbeing to be smart as well as indulgent, this is a playground of possibilities. Visiting practitioners include Ayurvedic specialists, osteopaths, and skin-health experts, bringing global wellness expertise right into central London.

Six Senses has made a conscious decision to let the building breathe. The hotel’s sustainable systems – BREEAM-certified, rainwater capture, heat exchange – are impressive, but the real statement is in how spaces are used. The members’ club, Six Senses Place, isn’t just an add-on; it’s a hub for wellness, community, and learning. Workshops, talks, and wellness experiences spill out into the hotel’s public areas, keeping the city connected while offering guests moments of pause and discovery. Even the Alchemy Bar, where herbs are dried and tinctures created, feels like a small laboratory for living well.

For us, the thrill is simple: a luxury hotel that treats wellness as a living, breathing principle, not a marketing tagline. It’s a hotel that encourages discovery in a city we know intimately, yet manages to offer a fresh perspective – whether through expertly curated rooms, a spa that could rival any resort in the world, or public spaces designed to feel alive and generous. And with Hyde Park a short stroll away, not to mention an array of restaurants, cinemas, and fitness studios within the Whiteley itself, the balance between urban energy and restorative calm is perfectly struck.

We can’t wait to explore the suites, check out the terraces, and of course, spend a few hours in that spa. Six Senses London promises a city escape that actually feels like one, and we’re counting the days until we can experience it firsthand.
